What is "Low Acid"?
Low Acid refers to the pH level of the brewed coffee. A measure of acidity or alkalinity of water soluble substances (pH stands for 'potential of Hydrogen'). A pH value is a number from 1 to 14, with 7 as the middle (neutral) point. Values below 7 indicate acidity which increases as the number decreases, 1 being the most acidic. The higher the pH level the lower the acid.
What is the pH level of Manatee Coffee?
Manatee Coffee is roasted and blended with coffee beans to achieve a low acid level. Based on our test results we typically have a pH level of 5.8 to 6.0 with our Manatee Coffee. The type of water you use when brewing your coffee can effect the pH so beware of that critical component in your coffee brewing preparation (we use reverse osmosis filtered water when we brew). Most coffees on the market will have a pH range of 5.5 to 5. Why doesn't Costco stock and sell everything we see on the website?

Costco only selects certain clubs to feature our coffees. We are very pleased with the success of our products where they are sold and continue to make Manatee Gourmet Coffee available in more stores. As we add more clubs and stores, we will post them on our website.

What process do you use to make decaf coffee?
The 100% Arabica bean coffee is steamed to bring caffeine to the surface and solvents are then used to remove the caffeine. The resulting coffee is steamed again to remove any residual solvent resulting in decaffeinated coffee.
What qualifies as Decaffeinated?
Having the caffeine levels reduced to at least 97.5%.
Is Manatee Gourmet Coffee Kosher?
Yes, all of our coffees are Kosher.
Can I order samples or a variety box?
Samples or a variety box are not available for order at this time.
Does Manatee Gourmet Coffees contain nut allergens?
We do not use any tree nut products in our coffees, and our manufacturing facilities do not process any tree nuts. We only use artificial flavors, so all of our flavored coffees are also nut allergen free.
What is the most common preparation method?
A drip coffee maker with a paper or plastic basket.
How should I prepare for better brewing?
You need fresh roasted beans to grind, clean brewing equipment, and quality water. Also clean the coffee pot and maker once a week.
What is the best way to store coffee beans?
In a glass, air-tight container away from light. Do not freeze ground coffee. Air, light, and moisture reduce freshness.
What is Espresso?
Espresso is a strong, finely ground, dark roasted coffee brewed by quickly forcing hot water through the beans.
What is Kopi Luak?
A coffee bean digested by a Luwak (cousin to the mongoose) in Indonesian regions. The bean is harvested and sold in the USA for around $18 oz. or $300 lb.
What are the differences in coffee beans?
Arabica Beans have a wide range in taste and smell. They are a more delicate bean produced in the tropical regions at a high elevation. They are more expensive due to hands on production process.
Robusta Beans have a neutral to harsh taste and oatmeal-like texture. They grow in low elevations, are heartier for rough handling and yield higher pounds per acre. They are less expensive due to a more mechanized method of harvesting.
Coffee Beans take on the characteristics of the soil of the region in which they were grown.
